Donald Lee Townsend, 85, of Franklin, Tennessee, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010.
He was born December 13, 1925, at Shelly, Minnesota, to William and Carrie Updike Townsend.
He graduated from Richland High School, in Richland, Iowa, class of 1943.
He attended a trade school for two years where he acquired the knowledge and skills to become an electrician.
Donald was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served active duty during World War II.
He married Delores Lopez in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is survived by two daughters: Nancy Kelly and her husband, Phillip, of Edinburg, Pennsylvania; Donna Spittle and her husband, Steve, of Franklin, Tennessee; a stepson, Michael Townsend, of San Francisco, California; a brother, Dean Townsend, of Center Point, Iowa; a sister, Verna Roemerman, of Centerville, Iowa and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother, Keith Townsend.
Graveside funeral services and burial will be at the Drakesville Cemetery, Drakesville, Iowa, Friday, February 5, at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Steve Bowie officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Reed Whisler Post #78.
