Sally (Fellinger) Werts, age 76, died of cancer on Monday, September 7, 2009 in Fort Myers, Florida.
She was born October 4, 1932 at Ottumwa, Iowa to Charles and Effie Fellinger. Sally grew up in Bloomfield and graduated in 1951 from Bloomfield High School. She married Dwaine Werts on November 25, 1951, at the Methodist Church in Bloomfield; they later divorced.
Sally worked as a secretary at the Gilfillan Clinic, before becoming a medical transcriptionist, working at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield and the Baylor University Medical Center and Presbyterian Hospitals in Dallas, Texas.
Sally was an avid bridge player, achieving the rank of Silver Life Master. She began playing bridge at age 15 when she and her mother joined a duplicate club in Ottumwa, Iowa. She also enjoyed playing golf and music. She was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Friendship Chapter # 46 and Bloomfield PEO, Chapter B.
She is survived by two daughters: Terry Cernoch and her husband, Bill of Terrell, Texas and Laura Werts and her husband, Keith Woerner, of Punta Gorda, Florida; three grandchildren: Janice McCree, Tim Tucker and Scott Cernoch; four great grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Fellinger and his wife, Kay, of Grand Rapids, Michigan and three nephews.
A reception and visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Green Leaf Place, 425 North Madison Street, Bloomfield, Iowa, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jackie Perry officiating. The Bloomfield P. E.O. Chapter B will conduct a memorial service. Burial will follow in the I.O.O. F. Cemetery.
