Joy Isabelle Campbell, 80, of Bloomfield, Iowa, died January 12, 2009 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born October 7, 1928 to Dorcie D. and Cleo H. Hulen Lunsford at Savannah, Iowa. She grew up in the Savannah area and attended Bloomfield High School. She married William Timothy Campbell at Memphis, Missouri on August 24, 1946 and to this union three children were born. Her husband died April 24, 2006. Joy’s love of people and her unceasing desire to help people is evidenced by her work as a Nurse Aide at the Davis County Hospital for ten years, a custodian for the City of Bloomfield several years and her most recent employment at Aunty Granny’s Restaurant in Bloomfield. She was a member of the Savannah Christian Church and was active in its Ladies Aide group for many years. She also was a member of the Rosy Red Hats, volunteered at the Bloomfield Welcome Center, the Lord’s Cupboard, served as a Pink Lady for the Davis County Hospital Auxiliary and served as a board member for the Davis County Council on Aging. Joy worked both general and primary elections in Savannah for many years. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, playing cards and bingo and working in her flower gardens. She is survived by two daughters: Billie Urich and her husband, Bob, of Indianola, Iowa; Fran Harris and her husband, Ron, of Bloomfield, Iowa; a son, Timothy D. Campbell and his wife, Colette, of Bloomfield, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Freeman and her husband, Lee, of Durham, North Carolina; Julie Urich of Sherman Oaks, California; Marnie Harris, Melissa Scott, Marcie Benge and her husband, Darian; Josh Campbell and his wife, Debbie and Jeremiah Campbell, all of Bloomfield, Iowa. Nine great-grandchildren: Zachary Freeman, Sarah Freeman, Seth Freeman, Mercedes Marshall, Mariah Marshall, Gage Reistroffer, Syrus Benge, Maren Harris and Lexus Campbell; two sisters: Peggy Nicholi of Denver, Colorado and Donna Gibson and her husband, Don, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and a brother, Dorcie D. Lunsford of Monument, Colorado survive as do nieces, nephews, friends and many very special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. A visitation will be held at the Savannah Christian Church in Bloomfield, Iowa on Saturday, January 17, 2009 from 10 A.M. till noon. Funeral services will follow at the church at 2 P.M. with Reverend Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in the Savannah Cemetery, Savannah, Iowa. Casket bearers will be Josh Campbell, Jeremiah Campbell, Bobby Rosenstangle, Ron Harris, Bob Urich and Larry Stevenson. Memorials maybe made to the Savannah Christian Church and may be left at the church on Saturday or mailed to Memphis Funeral Home, 378 South Market Street, Memphis, Missouri 63555.
