Faye Humphrey, 78, of Memphis, Missouri, passed away February 29, 2008 at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. She was born on March 26, 1929 in Hamilton, Missouri. She spent some time in a children's home before she and her little sister, June, were adopted by Paul and Mabel Rice of Memphis, Missouri. She attended Brock grade school and then went on to graduate from Memphis High School in 1948. She was raised as a Christian and accepted Christ as her savior in the Brock United Methodist Church. She was married to Basil Humphrey on June 6, 1948. They lived and farmed in Scotland and Clark counties. Faye was active in the church where she served as an organist. She worked in the health care field, catered weddings and recently resigned from the Scotland Couinty Memorial Library where she was employed for seven years. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Raymond Reed, who was killed in WWII and a grandson, Matthew Humphrey, who died in infancy. Surviving are her husband, Basil, of the home; her son, Stan, of Memphis, Missouri; a daughter, Robin and her husband, David Hall, of Holt, Missouri; four grandchildren: Erin Miller of Edina, Missouri; Bruce Humphrey of Memphis, Missouri; Ryan Hilpert and wife, Katie, of Rolla, Missouri and Kris Hilpert of Columbia, Missouri and eight great grandchildren: Trevor Snelling, Cody Miller, Annalise Miller, Hope Hilpert, Dustin Hilpert, Dylan Hilpert and Aayla Humphrey. Also surviving is her sister, June Reed and husband, Frank, of Memphis, Missouri and her brother, Paul Reed and wife, Naomi, of Anita, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Scotland County Memorial Library or the Scotland County Health Department.
