Sanford P. Padgett, 82, formerly of Cherokee Village, Arkansas Died February 4, 2008 at the VA Hospital at Hines, Illinois.
He was born October 21, 1925 at Arbela, Missouri to Irwin F. and Verona O. Dye Padgett.
He served in the United States Army during WWII with Co E 409th Infantry Regiment having earned a good conduct medal and the purple heart. He was awarded a European/Africa/Middle East Theater Ribbon with two battle stars, two overseas service bars and the American Theater Ribbon.
He received a degree in electronics and worked as a television/electronics repair techinician for Sear Roebuck & Company. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
On April 30, 1949 he married Marion G. Gray in Cook County, Illinois.
He is survived by four daughters; Linda Long Padgett, Andover, Illinois; Diane Haywood Padgett, Mokena, Illinois; Doris C. Gaddis Padgett, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Donna C. Woolsey Padgett, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and three sons; William T. Padgett, Tinley Park, Illinois; Jeffrey A. Padgett, Andover, Illinois and Brian V. Padgett, Antioch, Illinois. Other survivors include: twenty grandchildrebn and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marion and a daughter, Winifred P. Padgett.
Graveside services were held February 9, 2008 at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Arbela, Missouri. Military Rites were given by the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial Post 4958 VFW. |
