Edward James Skelton, 88, of Milton, Iowa, died February 11, 2007 at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Missouri. He was born June 24, 1918, at Farmington, Iowa to Albert F. and Ruth A. Wright Skelton. He graduated from Milton HIgh School in 1935. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. Ed was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Russell Strait Post #483 American Legion in Milton and the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial Post 4958 V.F.W. in Memphis.

He married Jewel Meeks at Memphis, Missouri on March 9, 1967. He farmed near Milton until his retirement in 1995. Ed enjoyed playing cards and loved visiting with people and he especially enjoyed spending time with his two granddaughters. He was an avid Cardinal fan and loved his kitty cats. He is survived by his wife, Jewel, of the home; a son, David Bechtel of Plano, Iowa and his special friend, Janet Graham of Memphis, Missouri and two granddaughters, Amanda Bechtel and Alaynah Bechtel. Other survivors include a sister, Dorothy Scott and her husband, Lowell, of Cantril, Iowa; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother in infancy and a sister, Hattie Newland.
